What we think about it:
slapshots1515 - "This whole idea is such a cool concept. Wish it had been around years ago."
okopchak - "While my current laptop isn’t a framework, in 2-4 years when it finally hits EOL I am hoping framework or some other firm has a solid repairable upgradeable 14 inch option with mid level discrete graphics."
booga_booga_partyguy - "Honestly, at that point I'd highly recommend just going for an ultrabook with thunderbolt and getting an eGPU to pair with it if you're not keen on getting a desktop."
okopchak - "I like to have a lightish gaming capable laptop for travel in addition to my desktop. Depending on where external GPUs are in 2-4 years I might go the ultrabook eGPU mix, but as of yet the price to performance of that approach hasn't quite gotten there for me. That and approaching the middle aged Dad part of my life, it's hard for me to gauge what kind of computer I'll need at that point, but I like the idea of repair-ability."
booga_booga_partyguy - "I feel you because I have entered that part of my life! And honestly, at this point I am no longer chasing the "best of the best" builds. My priorities are portability and stable frame rates - everything else is superfluous. Hell, I rarely touch my main rig anymore and spend more time on my laptop for gaming (my rig has a 3080 and my laptop a 2060)."
fluteofski- - "I’m with you on the gaming laptop. I switched 5 years ago, and pretty much never looked back. After about a year, I moved my desktop into the closet, and that was that…. A year or so later, I gave away my graphics card to a friend who’s card shat a chicken… and a few months later my PSU to another who needed more juice to run his new rig, and the rest of the parts shortly thereafter to another friend who’s board bit the dust."
hatsuseno - "Ah yes, the LTTtop for gaming."
